- 3 cups whole milk
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 oz dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 tsp Foodie Tasting Room vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
The steps to follow |
- Caramelize the sugar: In a small saucepan, add the sugar over medium heat. Let it melt without stirring—just gently swirl the pan occasionally until it turns a golden amber color.
- Add milk slowly: Once the sugar is caramelized, pour in the milk slowly. The sugar may crystallize at first, but as the milk heats, it will dissolve back in. Stir until combined.
- Add cocoa powder and salt: Whisk in the cocoa powder and a pinch of salt until fully dissolved.
- Add chocolate: Stir in the chopped chocolate until melted and smooth.
- Add vanilla: Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, and serve.
The caramelized sugar will give your hot chocolate a unique, slightly toasty sweetness!
